Neck Pain Chiropractor Sydney | Rose Bay Clinic

Should I see a chiropractor for neck pain?

If your neck pain keeps returning or limits how far you can turn your head, an assessment is worth it. We check each cervical segment individually, use no-twisting Gonstead adjustments, and refer on when neck pain signals something beyond chiropractic care.

Neck pain is something I see daily in practice, from acute wry neck that appeared overnight, to chronic stiffness that’s been building for years of desk work and screen time. The cervical spine is one of the most mechanically complex regions of the body, and one of the most susceptible to the effects of modern sedentary posture. The forward head posture that develops from sustained phone and computer use increases the effective load on the cervical joints significantly, and the disc and joint degeneration that follows is often well underway before pain becomes the presenting symptom.

At Gordon Chiropractic & Exercise Physiology in Rose Bay, we use the Gonstead System to assess and treat neck pain with a level of specificity that general chiropractic approaches often don’t provide.

Common Causes of Neck Pain We See

We commonly work with patients presenting with acute wry neck (torticollis), cervical disc bulge or herniation, facet joint irritation, postural neck pain from sustained desk work, and neck pain contributing to headaches or upper limb tingling. Each of these requires a different approach, accurate diagnosis before treatment is non-negotiable.

The Gonstead Approach to Neck Pain

The Gonstead System is particularly well-suited to neck pain because of its emphasis on specific, controlled adjustments that do not involve rotation of the cervical spine. Using the Nervoscope, motion palpation, postural analysis, and X-ray where clinically indicated, I identify exactly which cervical levels are restricted or misaligned, and deliver a precise correction to those levels only. Many patients, particularly those who have been apprehensive about having their neck treated, find the Gonstead approach significantly more comfortable and reassuring than the rotational techniques used in general chiropractic.

Exercise Physiology for Neck Pain

Chiropractic care restores joint movement, but addressing the postural and muscular drivers of neck pain requires rehabilitation. As an ESSA-accredited exercise physiologist, I prescribe specific programs targeting deep neck flexor strength, thoracic mobility, scapular control, and overall postural endurance, the factors that determine whether neck pain resolves permanently or keeps returning.
